What’s involved in sponsoring a hole?
As a hole sponsor you have the opportunity to “dress up a hole” with your branding and have people available at your tee or hole with a fun activity. This is an opportunity to get your brand out there and network with other players and sponsors on the day, whilst supporting your community charities, whilst having fun with it. Hole sponsorship is $2000 for the day and includes a foursome team of your choice. Just head to the sponsorship registration to take part.
Can I enter as an individual or make up a team?
Yes you can! Although we would much prefer to have all 9 holes fully sponsored to bring in some much needed funds for the community. But once we reach capacity on hole sponsorship you are able to enter a team, or if you don’t have a team you can enter as an individual. If you enter as an individual we will do our best to include you in a team for the day. Individual registration is available at $150 per head.
What can I expect from the day?
The Waiheke Rotary Charity Golf Day is a fun day out that is intended to raise funds for our Waiheke community. The fun starts with an 11am shotgun start, with each team proceeding with ambrose style play and scoring. A BBQ will be available at the 8th hole and there will be drinks circulating the course during play. After play, there will be a light lunch served with musical entertainment provided. Prize-giving will be followed by a charity auction, where you will get a chance to bid on the fantastic prizes donated by members of our community.
Throughout the day sponsors will provide further opportunities to take part in mini-contests with prizes and bragging rights.
What if there is a rain out on the day?
It would have to be one heck of a storm to put us off. Play will continue in the rain. Watch the weather and come prepared for the day.
Ambrose Format Rules
- Your team's handicap is the total of individual handicaps divided by 10. Official golf handicaps will be used. If a member of your team does not have an official handicap then the maximum they are permitted is 24.
- Each team member must have 4 tee shots that are used.
- Shots between tee and green must be played within one club length of the position of the ball that is being used. Placing from one surface to another is not permitted i.e. from rough to fairway, bunker to fairway etc. When close to the green this club length cannot be used to place the ball on the green or nearer the hole.
- All putts must be taken from within 6 inches (15cm) of the selected ball. This placement must not be nearer the hole.
- Net score to be calculated as the gross score, less team’s handicap.

- Should you need some clubs or a buggy for the day these can be arranged via the club office.
